35-year-old faces multiple charges following stand-off: SPS

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, shortly before 5:30 p.m. the Stratford Police Service received a report of a female victim being threatened by her ex-spouse who was identified as a 35-year-old male resident of St Marys.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. the Stratford Police Service received information that the 35-year-old male was at a residence on Wellington Street, in the Town of St Marys where the male was reported to be in possession of a firearm.

Police attended and found the male barricaded inside.

Negotiations with the male were conducted during which he threw an imitation air-soft pistol towards police.

A warrant to enter the residence for the pupose of arresting the male was obtained.

At 10:30 p.m. members of the Stratford Police Service Emergency Response Unit entered the residence and arrested the male without incident.

The male was subsequently transported to Stratford Police Headquarters where he was charged with two counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, one count of Uttering Threats to Burn Property, and one count of Fail to Comply with Probation.

The male was held in custody to attend a bail hearing.
