February 21, 1937 - May 6, 2024
Audrey (Aukje) Molenhuis, passed away on May 6, 2024 at the age of 87. She was a gentle and protective mother, wife, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Aukje was born on February 21, 1937, in Doezum, Groningen, the Netherlands. She lived in Grootegast until she came to Canada to follow her love, Henry (Hendrikus) Molenhuis. Together, they raised 3 sons, Henri, Richard, and Dave.
Audrey was strong in her faith, and God was always the cornerstone of who she was. She was the caretaker of the Christian Reformed Church for 30 years. She enjoyed singing hymns, playing on the organ, tea time, sketching and doing puzzles.
Coffee and tea time were sacred, and she and Henry made trips to Tim Hortons almost daily, took their coffee and sat by the river.
Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Akke and Rienk Bijlsma, as well as her siblings, Alie, Youkje, Alberdina and brother Wim.
Audrey is survived by her husband and sons, as well as daughter in law, Susan (Henri), grandchildren, Jessica, Julie, Jeff, Allan, Graham, Katie, Meagan, Felicia, Mikel, Raina, and Daniel, as well as many great grandchildren and her brothers, Rienk, Bareld and Appie Bijlsma in Holland.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
We know she is now at peace singing joyfully with her sisters and meeting her parents and siblings in heaven, once again.
Audrey’s memorial service will be held at Stratford Christian Reformed Church,190 Athlone Cres, Stratford, N4Z1H9 on Tuesday, May 14th at 2:00 p.m. With a public visitation from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.
