Teen charged in Kitchener carjacking investigation

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a youth after a carjacking in Kitchener.

On March 2, 2025 at approximately 5 p.m., police responded to a report of a carjacking in the area of Courtland Avenue East and Block Line Road.

Through investigation, officers determined that the victim was approached by an unknown male at her vehicle in a parking lot. [It is alleged that] the male suspect assaulted the victim, stole her car keys, and fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

Police were able to track the vehicle to Stratford, and Stratford Police Service officers arrested the male shortly after 6 p.m.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male from Kitchener has been charged with: 

  • Robbery with Violence
  • Motor Vehicle Theft

The accused was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Fail to Comply with Probation. He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
