With March coming in like a lion — hopefully to go out like a lamb with milder weather at month's end — the public is being advised by the Huron County and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to avoid the roads.

The OPP said Saturday officers were responding to multiple crashes and vehicles in ditches, putting first responders, police, fire, EMS, and tow truck drivers in danger.

"Your safety and the safety of others are at risk — please stay safe and stay put," police said in a news release.

The OPP urged all drivers to stay off the roads due to blowing snow and whiteout conditions.
