One charged after report of firearm at Perth East Public Library

Police responded to a report of an individual with a firearm in the Township of Perth East.

On February 22nd, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Perth East Public Library after receiving a report of a person brandishing a firearm.

As a result of this investigation, Andrew Berberick, 48-years-old of Mitchell, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The firearm was determined to be an airsoft gun. There were no injuries. 

The accused was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear for bail court on February 23rd, 2025 out of Stratford, ON.
