September 17, 1943  -  November 17, 2024

Carol Virginnia Beth Shore, age 81, of Stratford passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on November 17, 2024. Born in Stratford, daughter of the late Walter and Merle (Arnold) Mantz.

Beloved wife for 58 years of Robert “Bob” Shore. Proud, loving, and cherished mother of Tammy (Robert) Vandewiel and Todd (Karen) Shore. Devoted and much-loved grandma of Matthew and Michael Vandewiel and Skylar and Jillian Shore. Loving sister of Rev. Frank (Margaret) Mantz. Lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Predeceased by her sister Sharon Mantz, her parents-in-law William and Pearl (Greve) Shore, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Ruth Holloway.

Carol was a graduate of Stratford Teacher’s College and taught the senior grades in two room schoolhouses at Seebach’s Hill and Donegal. Bob and Carol were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stratford on July 16, 1966. In 1971, they built their house together in the country where they enjoyed raising their family surrounded by nature and their beautiful gardens.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family, whom she was extremely proud of and selflessly put their needs ahead of hers. She enjoyed nothing more than being able to spend time with them at family gatherings, which were filled with much love, joy, laughter, and an endless assortment of her delicious homemade dishes. She had an extremely sharp mind, always being able to remember important dates, names, and news stories. She used her intelligence to help mentor her children and grandchildren in order for them to achieve their goals and was their greatest supporter and role model. Led by her strong faith, Carol consistently went above and beyond with her hard work to make sure that everyone was taken care of. Her love, strength, and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

As per Carol’s wishes, a private family service will be held with interment at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rotary Hospice Stratford, Stratford General Hospital, or a charity of one’s choice. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
