Thomas “Tom” Patrick Mathieson, age 56 of Stratford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, son of the late Albert Thomas and Mary Louise (Kane) Mathieson.
Tom is survived by his best friend and true love of 27 years Teresa Anne (Carter) Mathieson. Proud and loving father to Tyler Mathieson (Emily Harsen) and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Mathieson. And grandfather to Brodie. Tom will be fondly remembered by his siblings Tim Mathieson (Lorraine Collingwood), Todd Mathieson, his niece Hailey Tawse and brother-in-law Wayne Carter.
Tom is a 4th generation farmer on the Mathieson home farm in Ellice Township and most recently was employed with Stratford Farm Equipment working in the parts department. If there was anything Tom loved more than Holstein cows and Case IH tractors, it was sharing a laugh with family and friends.
Teresa and her family would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Stratford General Hospital, your care and compassion given to Tom will never be forgotten. Special thank you to Sue Pardy for her ongoing care and support. Besides his parents Tom was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Don and Laura Carter.
Friends and family are invited to Tom’s visitation on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-9 at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. Tom’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron St, Stratford. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.
