Mavis Catherine Ann Albrecht – cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, half-sister and friend, passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital with her family by her side on September 25, 2024, at the age of 87.

Born in Aldborough, Ontario on July 28, 1937, Mavis lived most of her lifetime in the Milverton and Listowel area.

She is the beloved wife of the late Norman Albrecht (2021), half-sister of Roy and Harvey, loving mother of Lynn Roedding, Kathy Stuckey (late Clive), Wendy Hardcastle (Robert), Greg Albrecht (Sandra), Wayne Albrecht, Michele Brock (Brian) and Wanda Schneider (Dave). Mavis was a proud grandmother, and her legacy will continue through her grandchildren: Jamie, Lindsay, Christine, Craig, Kyle, Travis, Ashley, Alex, Paige, Luke, Marina, Dallas, Amanda, Aimee, Aaron and Anthony. She will be greatly missed by all of her 16 great grandchildren.

Mavis had a long career working at Campbells Soups in Listowel, Ontario where she retired at 65 years of age. Despite her large family, Mavis always found time for others. She was passionate about gardening, puzzles of all sorts, horse racing and meeting up with friends for coffee. She was a huge fan of the late Canadian country singer Terry Sumsion and would travel around with dad to all his music festivals. Both Mavis and Norman enjoyed the many bus tours they took once they retired and one of Mavis’ biggest thrills was flying in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon.

In 1964 they purchased a waterfront cottage just outside of Bayfield, on Lake Huron. This was the pulse and highlight of the family for many years and still holds a multitude of fond memories.

Mavis was a powerhouse with extreme determination and a strong desire to succeed. She had a “never give up” attitude and this was very evident even in her last days. She taught her children, friends and coworkers the importance of commitment and hard work and all seven of her children value this philosophy today.

Cremation has taken place and a private family Celebration of Life will be held to honour Mavis.
