Lincolns continue to lead the way

Warriors split pair, while Irish pick up road win

The St. Marys Lincolns continue to show why they're the best of the bunch this season, posting two more wins over the weekend to keep the in first place in the GOJHL Western Conference.

They got their weekend going by thrashing the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins 7-1 at home Friday night, as Owen Voortman and Jaden Lee had two goals apiece to lead the way. Chase MacQueen-Spence then potted two to help the Lincs skate to a 6-2 road win over the Chatham Maroons Sunday.

Dax Vader and Quinn Kipfer put up the goals for the Stratford Warriors on Friday, but it was the visiting Elmira Sugar Kings that went home happy following a 6-2 win. The Warriors bounced back Saturday night on the road in Strathroy, beating the Rockets 3-1. Colin Slattery scored twice and Kipfer added one for Stratford. 

The Stratford Fighting Irish finished a home-and-away sweep of the Delhi Flames Saturday night on the road, coming away with a 7-3 win. Jaden Peca scored twice in the win while Matt Henderson, Zach Magwood, Justin Murray,Matt Granger, and Cameron Stokes netted one apiece. 

In PJHL action, the Tavistock Braves opened the weekend by beating Dorchester 4-1. They weren't able to sustain any momentum against Norwich, falling 5-2 to the Merchants on Sunday. 

Team tenHag showed up big for the Mitchell Hawks on Saturday. Brothers Johnny and Ben tenHag combined for three goals, Nathan Jewitt added a goal and two assists, and Cody Bach scored in overtime to give Mitchell a 5-4 win against Fergus. The luck wouldn’t continue for the Hawks on Sunday as they fell 2-0 to Mount Forest.
