A new workshop coming to the Local in Stratford will leave your mouth watering, as the Roast Your Roots workshop debuts November 19, thanks to chef Lucy Dillinger.
“She has some great meals that she does for the community,” said Margaret Smart, The Local's executive director. “People keep asking for her to share her knowledge, so she teaches people how to make their food taste awesome.”
The latest workshop Roast Your Roots is a seasonal workshop that will focus on root vegetables, and Dillinger will walk people through seasoning to help bring out the best flavours, how to roast the vegetables, and how to make amazing meals. Participants will be able to taste test during the workshop, and even take home the meals they create along with recipes.
Smart says Dillinger has been with The Local for a year, but had made a big impact on the community.
“She started to realize that she hadn’t made the same meal twice in the span of a few months,” said Smart. “That was a goal she set for herself her first year, so for every community meal which take place on Mondays and Fridays he has created a different flavor profile.”
People are encouraged to register quickly as spots are limited.
“There is no cost to participate,” said Smart. “We are supported through the United Way for these skill programs that we offer to the community, but space is limited to eight to ten people.”
The workshop will take place between 10 a.m. and noon at The Local. Anyone looking to register can do so by emailing [email protected].
