Suspected cocaine seized during Highway 59 traffic stop

One person is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in the Township of East Zorra - Tavistock.

On March 18, 2025, members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrol on Highway 59 in the Township of East Zorra - Tavistock, where a vehicle was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Jeffrey Scheerer, 52-years-old of Woodstock, has been charged under the Criminal Code with Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine.

Additionally, the accused was charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act:  

  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Improper number plate light

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on May 6, 2025.
