Police search for suspect after cyclist assaulted

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an assault that occurred in the Township of Perth East, and is seeking assistance from the public in identifying an involved individual.

On Aug. 19, 2024, Perth County OPP began investigating an assault that occurred on Aug. 17 at approximately 4 p.m. A cyclist was travelling north on Perth Road 111, between Highway 8 and Line 37, when a passing vehicle pulled over and the driver exited. An interaction occurred between the cyclist and the driver, which resulted in the cyclist being assaulted.

Police are looking to speak with the driver of the other individual involved. The vehicle is described as a black Dodge Ram, believed to be a newer model.

The driver is described as:
    •    Caucasian male
    •    approximately mid-50 years of age
    •    approximately 6'4" tall
    •    around 300 lbs
    •    short, buzz-cut style hair
    •    wearing a baseball hat

The victim did not sustain any injuries.
