Concerned call leads to impaired charges in Perth County

Another impaired driver was taken off the road in Perth County, thanks to a call from a concerned citizen.

Just before 2 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2024, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint advising of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located on Perth Line 34, in the Municipality of West Perth. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

Tanner Meinen, 20, of West Perth, has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while Impaired - Over 80

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on Oct. 14, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's License Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. 

The Perth County OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver, you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
