The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a recent collision, which resulted in an intimate partner violence investigation in the Township of Perth East.
Just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2024, police began investigating following a two-vehicle collision that had occurred on Perth Line 33. There were no injuries sustained in the collision, but the driver of one vehicle fled the scene on foot. Prior to the collision, a passenger in the vehicle had been assaulted. With the assistance of the West Region OPP Canine Unit and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the person of interest was located and arrested just after 8:30 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old from Perth County was charged with:
- assault with a weapon - spousal
- dangerous operation
- fail to remain
- drive motor vehicle - no licence
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
