Perth County OPP lay two impaired driving charges over weekend

PERTH COUNTY – Two motorists are facing impaired driving charges in two separate investigations over the weekend – one of which involved a collision.

On Saturday at around 6:50 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police received a traffic complaint about a suspected impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and driver in Mitchell in the Municipality of West Perth.

As the result of an investigation, Kevin McDonald, 52, from Mitchell, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In a second incident on Sunday at around 3 a.m., the OPP initiated a collision investigation involving a passenger vehicle that left the roadway and entered a ditch on Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

After an investigation, Maytenor Zambrano, 25, of Palmerston was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both drivers were released from custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Oct. 7.

Additionally, both drivers were issued 90-day driver's licence suspensions and seven-day vehicle impoundments.
