Man faces murder, weapons charges following incident on Ontario St.: SPS

Police say a 35-year-old was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to a gunshot injury

Police has a suspect in custody for the shooting of a 35-year-old woman early this morning. He was scheduled to appear in bail court Tuesday afternoon.

On Oct. 15, 2024 at 5 a.m., the Stratford Police Service and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to an incident within a residence on Ontario Street in the City of Stratford.

On arrival, Stratford Police located 35-year-old Kassidy Ballantyne-Holmes, who was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Ballantyne-Holmes was transported to Stratford General Hospital where she later died from her injury.

As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Keith Savile was arrested and later charged with:

  • Second degree murder
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Weapons trafficking and manufacturing

Savile was remanded into custody with an upcoming bail hearing on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024.

There is still an active investigation into this incident.
