A 20-year-old female is in police custody following an incident at the Superior Propane location on Monteith Avenue in Stratford Tuesday.
Stratford Police Inspector Jason Clarke confirmed that police were holding a suspect that was arrested on Tuesday in connection to the incident and have charged her with arson. He added that the damage was limited to a small fire extinguisher.
Stratford Fire Department Chief Neil Anderson said firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and returned from it just before 6 p.m. Anderson said they discovered a small fire under the large propane storage tank that was put out with one of their extinguishers. The item that was burned was a small piece of plastic that appeared to be from a fire extinguisher's cover. No injuries were reported and no visible damage was done.
The suspect is set to appear for her bail hearing today.
