Driver revs engine in front of police, gets charged

The driver was stopped after police say they were revving their engine excessively at a traffic light

A driver who caught the attention of a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer in the Municipality of West Perth is now without a vehicle.

Just after 2 p.m. on July 18, 2024, an officer patrolling Mitchell observed a driver that was stopped for the red light at Ontario Road, and was excessively revving the engine of their pick up truck. A traffic stop was conducted, and as a result of the inspection of the vehicle, the driver, a 20-year-old driver from St. Paul's Station was charged with:

  • unnecessary noise
  • no mudguards
  • improper tires

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
