April 15, 1940  -  December 16, 2024

Norman Orville Joseph Mahaffy, age 84, of Stratford, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Timmins, Ontario, son of the late Harold Edgar and Alice Bernadette (Charron) Mahaffy. Norman was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Fay (Small) Mahaffy on December 13, 2019. Proud father of Linda Martin, David (Michele) Mahaffy, Nadine Ford and Darrell (Tina) Mahaffy. Loving grandfather to Jonathan (Amelia), Andrew (Hyunyung), Taylor (Mitchell), Matthew (Dorothy), Hannah (Adam), Gordon (Kayla), Jeremy, Merinda, Darla Fay and great grandchildren Noah, Madelyn and Violet. Norman will be fondly remembered by his sister Dorothy Cooper and his sister-in-law Terry Small and his bother-in-law Dale (Wendy) Small along with his many nieces and nephews.

Norman joined the Armed Forces as a young man and gradually discovered a love for diagnosing and repairing army vehicles. After leaving the Army in 1974, he continued his passion as an auto mechanic until he retired. Norman’s love of sports, family and crafts have kept him very active since his retirement. Many of his homemade crafts will now be cherished fondly by those who were gifted.

Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Russell and Maureen Small, his son-in-law Allan Ford, his brothers Donald and Bryand, his brothers-in-law Russell Cooper, Gordon Elwood (Ellen) Small and Glenn Small. In keeping with Norman’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford, ON. 

An interment and celebration of Norman’s life will take place in late spring of 2025 in Timmins.
