March 2, 1972  -  September 20, 2024

Chadwick James Lotz known as Chad, was a cherished individual known for his kind, loving, caring, and humorous personality. Chad left us tragically on September 20th, 2024. Born on March 2nd, 1972, Chad struggled with drug addiction for much of his life. He tried valiantly to be free of the hold drugs had on his life but in the end, it was an accidental drug overdose that took his life. His family is very proud that in a final act of generosity, he was able to donate his kidneys to 2 individuals. Our family would like to thank the many friends who reached out and shared their remembrances of Chad with us. We would like to say a special thank you to the medical staff of the ICU in St. Catharines General Hospital, the social workers, Trillium Gift of Life Network professional & many others who carried us through the process of his last days on life support & organ donation. Chad would have been humbled by the Honour (Hero) Walk the medical staff gave to him as he went into the operating room.

He is survived by his daughter, Lily Lotz, mother Betty McCormick of Goderich, father Garry Lotz & Step Mom Carol Lotz of St. Catharines, Sister Shannon Hoyles & her husband Percy Hoyles, Brother Jonathon Lotz, niece Katrina Wiedemann and her husband Kris Wiedemann, great nephew Finley Wiedemann and many other cherished extended family members.

Chad enjoyed living in Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines for the past many years & where he made many good friends. But his younger years were in Stratford, Ontario where he had many memories of times spent with many close friends. Chad loved playing his guitar, his varied music taste ranged from heavy metal to soft rock. Chad loved animals and was particularly proud to be a cat guy.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Avondale Cemetery, 4 Avondale Avenue, Stratford on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. A public Celebration of Life held in the Reception Centre of the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, September 28, from 2 pm-4pm.

In remembrance of Chad, we ask that instead of flowers, if you wish to honour Chad's memory that you would contribute to Niagara Life Centre, 65 Lakeshore Rd., St. Catharines, On L2N 2T3 at [email protected] or any non-profit of your choice. Your donations will serve as a testament to Chad's life & the impact he may have had on your life.

Chad Lotz was funny, kind & smart and he will forever reside in our hearts. As we grapple with the loss of his physical presence, we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the love he had for his family and his good friends.
