Robert Larocque was born in Bluewater Health in Sarnia Ontario to Mary Anne Johnson and Cicel Larocque on June 29, 1947. Wife- Margaret Protas, Children of Robert: Angelique - children Joshua and Noah. Son Chris - spouse Trevor Bishop. Extended family - Alex, Mona, :Nusha and Nadia Protas. : Bill and Diana Anothnoy- Sharon Bettschen, : Dave & Julie Brandon and Elena, Ross and Joan Bishop His siblings were John Larocque, Jim Dowding, Peggy Braclay and Debbera Ponts. Also his foster family Keith Raymer. He was Foster to Sally and Harold Groph. Robert grew up in the city of Stratford Ontario.
He Settled in the Pioneer Park Area for 44 years, Robert was a second Generation Non - Status Indigenous person. As a young boy he was a bat boy for the Kroehler Women softball team. There is a photo of them in the Stratford Perth Museum. Age of 17 Robert enlisted in the air force and was stationed in Kamloops BC during the Vietnam war where he was cook and flew fighter jets, When he returned from service. He met Margaret Protas in grade school as friends. Then he started dating in College. Robert went to Conestoga college for radio, Years later he was a Radio DJ in Moose Jaw and in Moosonee. Robert ran into Margaret and started to date. Robert married Margaret January 6, 1972. Robert worked for 35 years at JM Schneider's Meats as a butcher and product developer. One of his product ideas was the launchable. In the 70’s he was a hockey coach throughout the city of Kitchener. Robert did attend the Highland Baptist Church, Grandview Baptist Church then later in his life he attended Pioneer Park Church of God in the south of Kitchener. Well, he was there he helped with the regional food bank, helped as an usher.
Robert J. Larocque passed away with family by side on December 5, 2024 at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place in the Reception Centre of the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. Please dress in a Hawaiian theme.
