We are sad to announce the passing of Paul Andrew Jeary in Ottawa on June 28, 2024. He was in his 42nd year.

Paul will be missed by his son (his pride and joy) Jax, mom Shelley (Murray Schlotzhauer), dad Scott, sister Dani (Brad Barnes) and especially by his biggest fan and play-doh buddy - his niece Kaylee. Lovingly remembered by grand-parents Betty Gingerich, Tom and Nancy Jeary, birth coach and godmother Erika Ellis, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins within the Gingerich, Jeary and Normandeau families.

Predeceased by grand-parents Carl Gingerich and Carmel & Aurele Normandeau.

Paul was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He graduated from Hickson Public School and Huron Park S.S. Woodstock. Always an energetic force, committed to fitness and health, Paul obtained his Black Belt with Sensei Steve Chaput at Kick’N FX in Woodstock. Paul spent many years involved with Scouts Canada, enjoying numerous events and trips to jamborees with his Dad, John Verbakel & Bob Humphrey as leaders and went on to receive his Chief Scout Award. He made so many incredible, lasting memories with his friends and family during his teenage years, especially with the Bright Gang!

Paul then went on to attend the University of Ottawa working towards a Kinesiology degree and thoroughly enjoyed his time performing, competing and socializing with the Ottawa Gee-Gees Cheerleading team. When Paul tried anything, he gave it his all!

A deeply compassionate and sensitive soul, Paul enjoyed good company, interesting conversations and card games (with aggressive bidding skills that he may have inherited from his Grandpa Carl). His kindness to others and his desire to understand himself and others was remarkable despite later struggles with his mental health. Paul was always ready, willing and able to help his Grandma as needed and in the past couple of years, truly demonstrated his ability to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Paul will be remembered by many for his sense of humour, his beautiful smile and his sparkling blue eyes.

Paul, we will remember that you were more than a diagnosis, more than medication, more than the struggles you faced. May you eternally rest in the true peace that we all deserve.

Please join us to celebrate Paul’s life on Sunday August 4, 2024 at the Shakespeare & District Optimist Hall, with a service beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a reception. A private Interment will take place.

If desired, Paul’s family would be grateful for donations made in his memory to CMHA, Shepherds of Good Hope, Ottawa or Centre 507, Ottawa. Personal condolences can be posted at www.francisfh.ca
