John Arthur Fischer, in his 75th year passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital September 21 surrounded by family. Following a hard fought battle with illness, he is finally at rest.

Born in Stratford October 2, 1949, son of the late Arthur and Eileen (Musselman) Fischer. 

Survived by his loving wife and sweetheart of 54 years, Linda Fischer. John is also survived by sons Lucus, Darryl and Adam Fischer, all of Stratford. Loving and devoted "papa" to Hayden (Lauren), Lucus (Nicole), Ava Fischer and his step-granddaughters Lia McDonald and Jennica Comely. John also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Kathleen, sisters Nancy Agroff and Joanne (Dave) Wreford along with several deeply loved nieces and nephews and furry friends Mel, Felix, Belle, Misty, Alex and Stella.

In addition to his parents John was also predeceased by his sister Carol Beck and her husband Hans and brother-in-law Neil Agroff.

John worked for many years as a paramedic in the Stratford area. He then worked as a porter at Stratford General Hospital until an injury forced him to retire. In his retirement he prioritized time with his grandchildren and family, his favourite music, baking and enjoying the occasional craft beer.

The family would like to extend their deep thanks to the nurses on the third floor, especially Edgar, Jenn and Nicole who cared for John so compassionately in his final days.

John has chosen to donate his body to the University of Western Ontario for medical research.  

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Badge of Life Canada through the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford.
