Onrush Entertainment Inc., the organisation behind the recently launched Onrush Music Festival (https://onrushfestival.ca), has kicked off a round of community engagement with the Stratford Performing Arts Surveys 2024.

Two surveys are currently available: one is focused on how and where artists rehearse, workshop, or develop their art within the City of Stratford, while the other is centred around performance spaces and venues in Stratford. These surveys intend to document the needs of musicians, musical groups, and performing artists regarding access to rehearsal and performance space and such future needs in the City of Stratford.

The surveys are applicable not only to musicians but to any performing arts groups such as choirs, ensembles, local theatre groups, or dance troupes.

“Amongst musicians and artists in Stratford, there is a lot of institutional knowledge around the challenges facing performing artists, but not much of that has been captured in a formalised and direct way,” said Tim Harrison, President of Onrush Entertainment and Festival Director of the Onrush Music Festival.  “We felt it was necessary to find the most efficient way to capture some of that knowledge directly.  We’ve started with these surveys and hope to extend that over time as we find more ways to help drive data-driven solutions to those challenges we identify.”

Feedback from the community directly impacts the Stratford arts and performing arts community and is vital for making data-driven decisions and for working in and with the City of Stratford.  The results of the surveys will be used to help educate and facilitate discussions with local and regional governments, venue owners, and community groups on where our challenges are today and what opportunities there may be to address those challenges.

“We hope musicians and performing artists will help us collect and grow this baseline of data so we can have meaningful discussions around how to grow this amazing community filled with talent and promise,” added Harrison.
