Ribbon cutting, Richard III at Tom Patterson Theatre

Blue skies welcomed guest speakers and a few hundred members of the community gathered for the opening of the Tom Patterson Theatre in Stratford.

Tom Patterson Theatre officially opened its doors on Tuesday, May 10 with a ribbon cutting event followed later by the first Stratford Festival production of the season of Richard III. Special guests talked about the evolution of the theatre, including a two year pandemic wait after it was all but completed, and how a small but mighty group came together to see the dream become reality. A few hundred community members packed together to watch speeches. Afterwards, they were welcomed inside to tour the theatre. More than $105 million was raised for the cost of the theatre and for its endowment fund. Funding came from various levels of government and private donations.
