StratfordToday received the following letter from Mike Sullivan in response to the letter Don't remove Respectful Workplace Policy, says ex-mayor

I sincerely doubt Ms. Haslam watched the Feb. 26, 2024, council meeting. If she had, she would know that there were no ‘vicious attacks’ by anyone at that meeting.

Indeed she admits that she has only ‘read stories’, presumably the Mayor’s untrue assertions that there were threats of violence, and Councillor Hunter’s untrue suggestions that there was ‘derision and scorn’ directed at staff.

I was critical of council for voting so often in secret illegally, but I was never vicious or scornful.

As a former mayor and MPP, she should know that while it is illegal for council to conduct its business in secret, the province has decided there is no penalty for acting illegally.

Other jurisdictions impose fines and jail time. No wonder then that it continues unabated.
