A North Perth woman is facing charges in relation to the kidnapping and murder of a Kitchener man in 2019.
On Monday, January 13, police arrested 35-year-old Jessica Martin. She is facing charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, obstruction of justice, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. She will have a court date in Guelph on Feb. 3.
The OPP have now charged a total of five people in the case.
On March 12, 2019, Jason John Brown was abducted from a cemetery in Harriston, before his body was found the next day almost 200 kilometres away in Oshawa.
The others charged include 38-year-old Mathew Drumond from London who is facing charges for first-degree murder, and conspiracy; Travis Willard Wand from Wellington North who is facing charges of first-degree murder, to counts of assault with a weapon, kidnapping and other offences; Joshua Alexander Dumond and Steven Jon Walsom-Gerigs of Brantford are both facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
Wellington County OPP said they are continuing the investigation under direction from the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch and with assistance from the OPP’s Bike Enforcement Unit.
The province, meanwhile, has increased the reward money in the case to $50,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
