The Stratford Warriors opened up the hockey weekend action with a win over LaSalle. The Vipers took an early lead, but the Warriors scored four unanswered goals including two from Drew Hodge as the Warriors downed the Vipers 4-1. Colin Slattery and Cole Lewis also scored for the hometown Warriors.

Stratford was back in action on Sunday against a KW team looking to get back into the win column. Rhyse Brown scored the lone goal for the Warriors as KW would win 3-1.

The St. Marys Lincolns and fans were treated to the Owen Voortman show. The 19 year old scored four goals, as the Lincolns beat KW 6-2. Chase MacQueen-Spence and Ryan Hodkinson also added goals in the win.

Payback is always best served on the scoreboard. The Stratford Fighting Irish and Elora Rock met on Saturday at the Allman Arena for the first time since an incident between the two teams. Jaden Peca scored twice, while Graham Brulotte and Ryan Obonsawin added goals as the Fighting Irish outlasted Elora 4-3.

It was a rough weekend for regional Provincial Junior Hockey League teams.

The Tavistock Braves opened up the weekend with a 4-3 loss against Hespeler. Saturday wasn’t any better for the Braves as they were shutout 5-0 as they took on Woodstock. On Sunday, Liam Gorman’s second of three goals led the Braves to an 8-6 win against Paris.

The Mitchell Hawks woes continue. The Hawks finished the weekend 0-3 and have now lost four in a row. On Friday, the Hawks would lose 5-2 against Wingham. On Saturday, a late goal by Chase Lorenz gave Walkerton a 5-4 win over the Hawks. The troubles didn’t stop on Sunday, as the Kincardine Bulldogs doubled up Mitchell 6-3.
