StratfordToday received the following letter to the editor in response to a recent article on the proposed Sebringville development.

I read the article about the proposed Sebringville development with great interest. Warden Ehgoetz enthusiastically presents this as a "good thing" for Perth County despite the opposition of most Sebringville residents, if lawn signs are any indication.

Is it possible that Warden Ehgoetz considers Sebringville the 'perfect' place to build high-density housing because it takes the pressure off the rest of the County?

Maybe this is the ultimate NIMBY situation with Perth County cramming high-density housing in a place it does not make sense. Why else might elected members of council support development that doesn't comply with Official Plan land use designations for villages like Sebringville?

The experts plan for developments like the one proposed to be built in serviced urban areas, specifically Mitchell, Listowel, Milverton, Shakespeare, and Atwood.

How about building something that fits with the plan?
