Stratford Police are looking for members of the public to join their research advisory council to assist them with their Equity Forward project.
Those who join the council will be working in collaboration with Stratford Police Service, researchers and their partners to ensure that the voices and needs of the community are being heard and are placed at the centre of the police force’s work.
The three-year commitment would include monthly meetings for the first year, followed by quarterly meetings over the last two years. Meetings would be a mix of in-person and virtual.
In a post to their X account, Stratford Police said that they are looking for people with lived experience related to policing, advocates for social justice, equity, and concerned citizens; community leaders, activists and anyone with a passion for inclusive and just policing practices.
Those selected for the council will be providing insights and advice on the direction of the research while ensuring community priorities are reflected in the project. They will work with researchers and stakeholders while helping to shape policy recommendations for equity and inclusion training programs for policing.
Anyone with an interest in applying for a council position should visit the Stratford Police Service X account (@SPSmediaoffice), find the post and scan the QR code to apply.
