The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public of different methods of contacting police, especially in a non-emergent situation.

While most people are familiar with dialing 9-1-1 in a life and death emergency, or to report a crime in progress, many are still hesitant to call the OPP Non-Emergency telephone line. Local members of the public can call 1-888-310-1122, which is available and monitored 24 hours a day by the Provincial Communications Centre in London. If someone needs to speak with an officer in Perth County, the call-takers will connect them with the most appropriate officer.

The Perth County OPP does not want to miss an important call, but since detachment telephones are only monitored during regular business hours, everyone is encouraged to use the Non-Emergency line.

Reports for certain minor circumstances can be filed online, at www.opp.ca/reportacrime, and does require a valid email address to complete.
