MIDDLESEX CENTRE — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Middlesex County Detachment is in search of enthusiastic, community-minded individuals who are eager to take part in the Citizens Police Academy, commencing in April 2025.
This initiative provides citizens with an opportunity to explore the realm of law enforcement, encompassing a broad range of topics over a seven-week period. Chosen participants will be able to participate in enlightening sessions conducted by diverse specialized units within the OPP, which may include, but are not limited to, Forensic Identification Services, Community Street Crime and Crime Units, the Emergency Response Team, the Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Canine Unit, In-Service Training, and Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement.
The academy is designed to be an interactive and informative event, offering a platform for citizens to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and responsibilities faced by OPP members in their day-to-day work.
Upon successfully completing the program, participants will be celebrated with a graduation ceremony.
The program is set to take place every Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is anticipated to start on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and conclude on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Applications can be obtained in person at the front desk of the London County OPP Detachment, located at 823 Exeter Road in London and at 28444 Centre Road in Strathroy. Kindly be aware that applications submitted after Thursday, March 20, 2025, will not be taken into consideration. Additionally, applicants are required to be 18 years of age or older to apply. As the course has limited capacity, early submission of applications is highly recommended.
