Peacefully, on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Hillside Manor, Stratford, Janet Ruth Sylvain, in her 90th year.
Born in Cornwall, daughter of the late William Henry and Anna Adora ‘Dora’ (Roach) Whittaker.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Tom. Proud and loving mother of Kathie Cuerden of Stratford, Earl (Karen) Sylvain of Waterdown, and Cindy (Philip) Shaw of Dresden. Loving grandmother ‘Ranga’ of Meaghan (Brendan), Jocelyn (Matt), Shannon (Tim), Matt (Katrina), Holly, Sasha (Brock), and Annalise ‘Annie’ (Shaya). Survived by her beautiful great grandchildren, Will, Rosie, Bethie, Attley, Nick, Tommy, Grainger, Delilah and Meadow. Also, survived by dear nieces and nephews.
Janet is predeceased by her brothers, Arthur ‘Sonny’, Stephen, Wayne; and sisters, Mona Engert, and Carolyn Prieur, dear in-laws and very special friends.
Janet loved her family and friends very much. They were her ‘happy place’. Throughout her life, she had a love of gardening, cooking, puppies and babies. Janet loved nothing more than a good ‘belly’ laugh and it was therapeutic/joyful for all who experienced these moments with her. She enjoyed music and singing in her church choir. Janet always worked very hard, both at home and in her dietary role at People Care Centre, Stratford, until her retirement. For many years she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Janet’s deep faith, and her love for Jesus, brought her much comfort all through her life, and carried her through good times and difficult times. Janet will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched.

There will be a private Funeral Mass, with cremation to follow. Interment in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
