Chef extraordinaire, animal lover, international traveler and full of fun, Robert succumbed to internal injuries and heart failure on Monday, July 17, in Stratford General Hospital. He was 56.
Son of Yvonne and Ray Stanton and beloved best friend of Lynn Barber, he graduated from Brock University with an honours degree in chemistry, which served him well when he enrolled in the Stratford Chefs School. After graduation, he worked in world class kitchens in Canada and the U.S. before returning to Stratford. After working in several local restaurants, he joined Lynn to operate the Harry Ten Shilling tearoom in Shakespeare.
His love of dogs was legendary following his more youthful experiences on the-then family farm in Wellesley Township with sheep, horses and even a donkey. His quick wit, down to earth approach to life and enjoyment of friends and family will be missed by many people.
