Raymond John Sabourin, age 80, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on December 31, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, son of the late John and Helen Sabourin.
Ray and Pat moved to Stratford in 1977, and created a beautiful life for their family.
Ray began work at Lori-Jo and eventually worked until his retirement in the maintenance department of the Avon Maitland District School Board.
After Pat passed away, Ray was blessed to meet his current wife, Carol.
They attended St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, where they developed very close relationships throughout the years. Faith has been very important for him and his family.
Ray is survived by his wife Carol Walters; children Micheline Wagner (Jim), Tricia Wilford (Scott), Carol’s children Robert Stacey (Melinda), Star-Lynn Leasa (Shawn) and their families. Grandfather of Cassandra (David), Mykayla, Nola, Memphis, River and great grandfather of Cooper. Also survived by daughter-in-law Jamie Sabourin, brother Ron Sabourin, sister-in-law Linda Sabourin and several nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by the Pemberton and Butler families.
Predeceased by his first wife Patricia (Pemberton), son Sean Sabourin, sisters Carol and Maureen Sabourin, brother Jim Sabourin and sister-in-law Margaret Sabourin.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 25 St. Andrew Street, Stratford on Saturday, January 13, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A reception will follow. Memorial donations in Ray’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or Rotary Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the W.G.
