August 19, 1953  -  March 3, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michel Wilfred Joseph Guitard, age 71, who passed away peacefully at his home on March 3, 2025. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Michel was the son of the late Euclide and Edna (Doucette) Guitard.

Michel was a proud veteran who served with the Canadian Armed Forces and was a dedicated member of the ANAF Unit 261 (Stratford). He found joy in spending many years with the Stratford Pipe Band, where he kept the beat with the bass drum. Michel had a deep passion for his family’s history and spent years compiling an extensive family tree, connecting relatives from across the country.

Michel leaves behind his daughter, Nicole (David) Selvey; his beloved granddaughters, Sydney and Kathryn and wife Diane (McCann) Guitard. He is also survived by his siblings, Pierre (Nicole), Philippe (Cathy), and Louise (Scott), as well as his sister-in-law Lyndia Mitchell and brother-in-law Perry McCann. Michel was also the uncle to many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.

In his free time, Michel loved spending time with friends, reminiscing and sharing laughter. He was known for his love of good company and his ability to bring people together.

Michel was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law George Mitchell, and his niece Tara McCann.

A private family service will be held, and Michel will be cremated as per his wishes. The family wishes to thank all those who have extended their support during this time.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the ANAF Unit 261 (payable by cheque made payable to ANAF Unit 261) through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford, ON. N5A 5T7. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
