James Richard Gallant, age 65, of Stratford passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, son of the late Florence (Clow) and Joseph Gallant.
Despite facing challenges with mental illness throughout his life, he found solace and joy in his passions for playing guitar and collecting rocks. A creative and artistic soul, he loved working with his hands, crafting beautiful trees from copper wire, intricate glass castles from broken tempered glass, and dabbling in stone carving. He was known for his extreme humility and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his brothers Vincent Gallant and Ronnie Gallant, and survived by his brother Ernie Gallant and his wife Lynne, his sister Joanne and her husband Wayne Trainer, his sister Angie and her husband Jacques Pelletier, and his sister Denise Gallant. He is also survived by his daughter Amy Gallant and her fiancé Basil McLean, his grandson Gauge Turner, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Family and friends may gather at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 am. A private family interment in Avondale Cemetery will take place in the spring.
