Surrounded by his loving and caring family, Allen Glenn Drown, age 81, of Stratford left us to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 17, 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Allen was born in Stratford in 1943, son of the late Harvey and Irene (Lease) Drown.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife Barbara (Comley) whom he married November 10, 1962. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Loving father of sons Donald (Michelle), Mark and daughter Mary. Devoted grandpa of Kody (Amanda), Tyler (Carlie), Brandon (Jordan), Jennifer, Sean, Crystal (Jesse) and Katelyn (Marcel). Great grandpa to Aliyah and Olivia. Brother-in-law of Joan Taylor-Eaton, Albert Comley (Sue) and Mary-Lou Drown. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bert and Lena Comley, brother Larry, brothers-in-law Donald Comley, Alvin Taylor, Glen Eaton and son-in-law Brian Mielke.
Allen was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, which he originally helped build and continued to maintain. He actively volunteered and was quick to help others. He coached hockey and ringette in Stratford for many years and retired from FAG (Scheffler) Bearings in 2008. Allen loved and cherished spending time watching his grandchildren play their sports, going camping and traveling with family.
The family would like to thank Dr. House and his team at the Kidney Transplant Unit at LHSC and all the doctors and nurses at the SGH Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, November 20, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, 113 Bruce Street, Stratford on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Avondale Cemetery.
