February 19, 1958 - August 8, 2024
Laurie Ann Budd peacefully passed away on August 8, 2024, at the Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock.
She was predeceased by her longtime partner, Lindsay Stafford, but is survived by her two sons Mike and Chris (Janelle) and her two grandchildren, Maxim and Ryane. Her beloved canine companion, Buddy, will deeply miss her presence.
Laurie was an extraordinary individual with a deep passion for writing poetry. She was selfless to her core, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her upbeat and caring nature drew people to her effortlessly, allowing her to maintain many friendships that began in childhood.
Laurie bravely battled cancer since 2010, never backing down from the fight. She refused to let her cancer defeat or define her – instead choosing to use it as a source of strength. She founded the iRally for Cancer fundraiser event, to raise funds for Gilda’s Club, a cancer support resource she had utilized which helped her forge lifelong friendships by sharing similar stories, resources, and offering a compassionate ear to others affected by the disease. These experiences inspired her to write a book about her journey, aiming to inspire others.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, between 4pm and 6pm at Rutherford Cremation and Funeral Services. 804 Ontario St., Stratford, ON.
