It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Lorie Adams on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Lorie at the age of 59 cherished wife of Doug and devoted mother of Luke, Joel and Rachel.

Lorie was born on November 25, 1964 to Gordon and Margaret Dotzert and grew up on a farm near Amulree, Ontario. Lorie was the youngest of the family and will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Shirley (Bill) Sara, Nancy Dotzert (Glen Kenyon), Jane (Tony) Davison and Barbara Dotzert. Special sister in-law to Doris (Ronald) LeBold, Jim (Kathy) Adams, Ann Marie (Dan) Tessier and Denise Adams-Lawrence (Mark Lawrence). Predeceased by her brother Wayne Dotzert. Lorie cherished her memories of the times she spent with her nieces and nephews.

Growing up on the family farm Lorie enjoyed her time creating a close friendship to her nieces Sarah and Liz as well their brother Dan who lived on the farm as well. After graduating from McMaster University Lorie began her nursing career at University Hospital in London Ontario.

When Lorie married Doug she then moved to Barrie and continued her nursing career until she and Doug founded Adams Funeral Home in 2007. At that time Lorie ended her nursing career and stayed at home to raise their three children. Lorie’s pride was her children and the amazing gardens which she cared for with all her heart. Her personality and smile will be forever remembered by her amazing circle of friends.

In 2014 Lorie was diagnosed with cancer, she faced her disease and treatment with tremendous courage and strength always being positive and optimistic. Lorie never complained and set an example for others to follow.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home she and Doug founded (Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services) 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 1 o’clock p.m. Interment to follow at Minesing Union Cemetery (1768 George Johnston Rd, Minesing).

Memorial donations to the Regional Cancer Centre at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre or Hospice Simcoe would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Rask, Dr. Matt Fallwell and the entire Oncology Department at the Regional Cancer Centre for their treatment, care, and support of Lorie over the past 10 years. Also, a thank you to Dr. Andrẽ Bédard and Colleen Wormsley for their compassionate palliative care.
