Dorcas Debus, age 91, of Stratford and formerly of Moserville, passed away peacefully at Anne Hathaway Residence with her family by her side on Monday, September 16, 2024. Dorcas was born in Ellice Township, daughter of the late William and Vera (Henry) Harloff. Dorcas was predeceased by her husband Albert Debus (August 8, 1980) whom she married on September 11, 1948. 

Dorcas was a longtime postal carrier from Brunner Post Office for 40 years. She was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moserville.

Dorcas is the loving mother of Pat (Keith) Denstedt Joan (Paul) Schultz, Peter (Carolyn) Debus, Debbie (Ron) Deichert and David Debus.

She is the loving grandmother of Geoff (Karen) Denstedt, Jill (Frank) Quast, Kevin (Sharon) Schultz, Kim Coleman, Ryan (Christy) Ehgoetz, Krista (Ken) Brown, Greg (Nicole) Debus, Andrew (Kaye) Ehgoetz and Jared (Sarah) Ehgoetz and step grandmother of Mark and Paul Deichert.

Great grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren and Great-great grandmother of 2.

Dorcas is survived by her siblings Rose Mueller, Donna Mueller and sister-in-law, Audrey Quast. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dorcas was predeceased by siblings Bernice (Victor) Messerschmidt, Robert (Anna) Harloff, Cora (Allan) Hislop, Agnes (Wally) Yungblut and brothers and sisters-in-law Glenn Mueller, Roger Mueller, Eileen and Gib Quipp, Bob and Eva Debus, Gord Quast and grandson in-law Jim Coleman and great-great grandson Cody Coleman (at birth).

 

The family would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful staff at Anne Hathaway Residence, Dr. Tsafnat, Dr. Dhillon, Dr. McWilliam, Dr. Lazo Langner, Dr. Thomas and Wanda Nelder for their outstanding care and compassion given to their mother.

 

In keeping with Dorcas’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. A celebration of Dorcas’s life will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Army Navy Air Force, 159 Lorne Ave East, Stratford from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.

 

In Lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Moserville; The Stratford General Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford On.
