Lincolns sweep Warriors in home-and-home set

Lincolns stay atop Western Conference at 11-0; Stratford remains second at 9-3

The St. Marys Lincolns proved they're where they belong this early in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League season, staying undefeated after sweeping a home-and-home set against the Stratford Warriors last week.

Hayden Barch, Ryan Hodkinson, Jacob McLellan and Dylan Searles put points on the board as St. Marys claimed a 4-3 win over the Warriors last Wednesday at the Allman Arena. Cole Lewis, Zach Bell and Cracen Campbell tallied once each in the loss. Colby Booth-Housego earned the win in goal by stopping 15 of 18 shots, while Carter McDougall took the loss in the Warriors' goal, making 21 saves on 25 shots.

Two nights later the Lincolns scored twice in the first and added two more in the third to cruise to a 4-1 win at the Pyramid Centre. McLellan, Noah Vandenbrink, Chase MacQueen-Spence and Owen Kalp scored in the win while Nolan Galda had the lone Stratford goal in defeat. Nico Armellin posted the win between the pipes for St. Marys, stopping 45 of 46 shots. McDougall took the loss again for Stratford, finishing with 30 saves.

St. Marys is looking to close out October by staying undefeated; they welcome the Chatham Maroons to the Pyramid Centre Friday, Oct. 25 for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, and then hit the road to Waterloo for a tilt with the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins Sunday, Oct. 27. The Warriors will look for a bounce back week when they head to Sarnia on Thursday, Oct. 24, and then welcome Strathroy Friday night. Game time at the Allman is set for 7:30 p.m.
