Stratford split their games while the St. Marys Lincolns tasted defeat for the first time, and the Fighting Irish earned a split with Orangeville in local action last week.

It was a game, maybe a little too close for comfort for the Stratford Warriors on Thursday night. The Warriors headed to the Pat Stapleton Arena in Sarnia to take on the Legionnaires.  Both teams suffered lack of focus with both taking too many men penalties in the game. In the end, Quinn Kipfer scored the overtime winner as the Warriors moved to ten wins on the season, while Sarnia stayed at two wins. Warrior’s Cole Lewis scored the lone goal in the first, while Cater Petrie, and Jack McGurn added goals in the win.

Heading home on Friday, the Warriors were sluggish in a 3-0 home loss to the Strathroy Rockets.

The St. Marys Lincolns suffered their first loss on the season as the visiting Chatham Maroons beat them 4-3 at the Pyramid Centre Friday night. Goals came from Jaden Lee, Ryan Cornfield and Jacob Montesi in the loss. The Lincolns would bounce back into the win column on Sunday. Owen Voortman and Lee each scored twice as the Lincolns doubled up the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins 4-2.

It was an up and down home and home this weekend for the Stratford Fighting Irish. On Friday the Fighting Irish were in Orangeville for the first game on the home and home, and they didn’t fare well at all. Ray Robbins would score and Graham Brulotte added two goals but the Blitz downed Stratford 9-3. The Irish would get their revenge Saturday night, as Brulotte scored for the second game in a row while Matt Henderson and Colin Martin got involved in the scoring to give Stratford a 3-1 win and a weekend split against the Blitz.

The Mithell Hawks got trounced 6-1 by the visiting Hanover Barons, as Owen Holloway scored the lone goal in the loss. Elsewhere the Tavistock Braves lost their seventh game in a row in a 6-3 loss against Norwich.
