Four teams have already clinched playoff births in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, including Western Conference frontrunners, the St. Marys Lincolns.
The Lincolns, who have a 33-6-1 record, won three times last week, including 7-3 and 7-0 wins over the LaSalle Vipers in a home-and-home set, and a 3-2 win against Elmira. The Lincolns are off until Friday when they host the Strathroy Rockets, and then they head to Komoka on Saturday for a date againts the Kings.
Sticking with the Lincolns, forward Jaden Lee was named the Collins Clothiers Players of the Month for January. The third-year player had 25 points in January, including points in all 11 Lincolns games.
It was also a good week for the Stratford Warriors: they kicked off the week on Thursday with a 6-1 win against Sarnia on the road before posting a 3-0 shutout over Sarnia in Stratford. The Warriors are currently tied for second in the GOJHL Western Conference with 57 points on the season and they'll look to keep their winning ways going when they host the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins Friday at the Allman Arena.
The Stratford Fighting Irish swept both games over the weekend, starting Saturday night with a 9-3 home win over the Dunnville Aeros. The high-powered offence stuck around for an 8-3 road win over the Tilbury Bluebirds. The Irish (13-9) now sit in third place, heading into a road game on Saturday against Tillsonburg.
Both local PJHL teams posted 0-2 records last weekend; the Mitchell Hawks fell 5-3 in Kincardine to the Bulldogs and then 3-2 in a shootout in Mount Forest, while the Tavistock Braves fell 5-2 in New Hamburg and 6-2 in Dorchester.
