It was a winless weekend for the Stratford Warriors at the league's showcase event in St. Catharines, with the Warriors going 0-2.
They opened play Friday against the St. Catharines Falcons, falling 3-1 as Hunter Nagge scored the solo in defeat. On Saturday, Dax Vader, and Hudson Binder scored, but Port Colborne pulled off a 3-2 win.
The St. Marys Lincolns fared better in the showcase, coming away with two wins. On Friday, Luca Spagnolo scored the game winner over the London Nationals as the Lincolns posted a 3-2 win. Ryan Hodkinson and Ryan Cornfield added goals for the Lincs. On Saturday, Colby Booth-Housego stopped all 28 shots, as the Lincolns shut out Ayr 3-0. Hayden Barch, Hodkinson, and Owen Voortman provided the scoring in the win.
Jaden Peca and Matt Henderson each scored three times to lead the Stratford Fighting Irish to a lopsided 8-2 win over the visiting Strathroy Jets Saturday night. Christian Polillo scored twice and Tyler Fassl stopped 28 shots in the win.
There wasn't much holiday joy for the area's Provincial Junior Hockey League teams this past weekend, either. On Friday, the Tavistock Braves fell 3-1 to the New Hamburg Firebirds, as Izac Blum found the back of the net in defeat. Also on Friday, Patrick Holloway and Ben tenHag scored for the MItchell Hawks but Wingham skated away with a 5-2 win. On Saturday, Cody Bach scored the lone goal for the Hawks who got roughed up 7-1 by Mount Forest.
