Western professor headlines next Climate conversations event

The Third Climate Conversation of the series will deal with being prepared for severe climate events: floods, powerful storms and forest fires.

Through the use of building and land retrofit, we can develop strategies to withstand the destructive results of Climate Change- saving lives and property.

Dr. Gordon McBean is a specialist in reduction of loss from climate events. He will share steps cities and individuals can take in urban forestry, water management, buildings and construction, and personal preparedness.

Dr. McBean works with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) based at Western University. He is a Member of the Orders of Canada and Ontario; Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Western University and policy Research Chair at ICLR . He was a lead scientist in development of IPCC Science Reports, for which the IPCC received a Nobel Prize.
