It’s a Halloween celebration to help keep minds positive. The Just Show Up program is designed to provide children an opportunity to meet other local children who have family members impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

“Once a month on a Saturday, we bring children aged 6-14 together to have some fun,” said Lisa Stacey, manager of Wellsprings Stratford who hosts the programs.

The Halloween inspired day will take place on Saturday Oct 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m at the Falstaff Family Centre.

“We will be doing pumpkin carving, making magic potions, even telling some spooky stories,” said Stacey. “It’s an uplifting day for children impacted by a family member's cancer diagnosis to come together for a fun day.”

The first annual Halloween inspired event is working hard to get the word out about the niche program.

“When I tell people about the program, they say I wish that was around when I was a kid,” said Stacey. “It’s hard to tell your children that you or a close family member are living with a cancer diagnosis, but this program offers kids a safe space to meet other children experiencing a similar situation.

The Just Show Up event encourages everyone to come out dressed up and get ready to partake in Halloween festivities. Anyone looking to attend is asked to pre-register by emailing Stacey at [email protected].
