Should Perth continue with rural transit? And who will pay?

Perth County is seeking feedback from residents, riders, businesses, and community stakeholders regarding PC Connect’s Rural Route transit service. With full provincial funding for PC Connect’s Rural Route scheduled to end on March 31, 2025, County Council will determine the future viability of the service beyond this date.

The County has launched the PC Connect Rural Route survey in an effort to understand how the service has impacted the community and to gather data to assist in the decision-making process. The survey is available online with hard copies available on the PC Connect Rural Route buses and at local municipal offices. The County is gathering a wide-range of perspectives to ensure that County Council has the information needed to make an informed decision on the long-term viability of the service.

"Council is committed to listening to the community to understand the impact of the PC Connect Rural Route." said Warden Rhonda Ehgoetz, Chair of the Community Transportation Steering Committee. “We appreciate the community’s input to aid Council in this decision.”
Survey responses are being collected until October 30th 2024. The short turnaround time is necessary for the information to be considered by Council in advance of the 2025 budget process.

If you require assistance completing the survey or would like to provide your feedback in an alternate format, an online form is available on the PC Connect website at www.perthcounty.ca/PCConnect-Feedback.

PC Connect also operates as three intercommunity routes which offer urban connections include service between Listowel – Kitchener/Waterloo (Route 1), St. Marys –Stratford – Kitchener/Waterloo (Route 2) and Stratford – St. Marys – Stratford (Route 3). These intercommunity routes (urban connections) are not being considered for the purposes of this survey.
