It was a weekend of Perth County battles on the ice, and the Stratford Warriors got back in the win column at the expense of their closest rival from St. Marys.
Hudson Binder scored twice while Drew Hodge and Rhyse Brown added singles as the Warriors doubled up St. Marys 4-2 last Friday night.The week wasn't a complete wash for the Lincolns, as they dumped Listowel 5-1 on Thursday night. Blake Elzinga led the win with two goals, while Luca Spagnolo, Jaden Lee and Jacon McLellan each had one. Spagnolo and Jacon Montesi found the net in the Lincs' loss to Stratford.
The Stratford Fighting Irish are heading back to the drawing board. Matt Henderson scored twice, while Jaden Peca and Dylan Buckholz also scored but the Irish wound up falling 7-4 to the Elora Rocks.
In the Provincial Junior Hockey League, the Mitchell Hawks finally got back into the win column with a 4-1 win over Goderich. They followed that up Saturday night with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to the first-place Hanover Barons.
Also on Friday night, Carson Bernhardt scored a hat-trick for the Tavistock Braves, but they still came up short 5-3 against Wellesley. On Sunday, Bernhardt scored again for the Braves but they fell 6-2 to Norwich.
