Three gold medals for St. Michael at provincial track and field meet

Erika Lealess of St. Michael CSS won two gold medals over the weekend at the OFSAA Track and Field championships in Ottawa. 

Lealess won the senior girl's 400m dash in a time of 54.38 seconds, almost a second ahead of the second place athlete at the provincials. 

Lealess also won gold in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.68. 

Tessa Burdett of St. Michael won the novice girl's 80m hurdles, with a time of 12.13 seconds.

SDSS at the provincials

Tyson Cassone of Stratford DSS finished second in the junior boy's pole vault, clearing 3.55 metres. Liam West of Heart Lake won the gold with a best clearance of 3.8 metres. Golden Bears teammate Caden Diehl took third place in the novice boy's pole vault with a best clearance of 3.10 metres, just 25 centimetres away from gold medallist Adam Freure of Fonthill Crossley.

Jashanveer Singh finished fourth with a personal best in novice boy's discus, covering a distance of 43.77m.

St. Michael exits at group stage at OFSSA boy's 'AA' soccer

St. Michael managed to defeat Hearst 8-0 in group play at the provincial 'AA' soccer championships, but they lost their three others games. Winston Churchill beat St. Michael 3-1, L'Essor won 2-1 and Holy Trinity topped the Warriors 3-0.

St. Marys DCVI advances from group play 

At the OFSAA 'A' boy's soccer championship, St. Marys DCVI won two games, tied one and lost one to advance from pool play.

St. Marys lost 2-1 to E.J. Lajeunesse, eventual silver medallists, in the quarterfinals.
